In 2025, a longtime Calaveras County resident and local business owner was diagnosed with both prostate and lung cancer. Since that diagnosis, the Johnson Family has been navigating the many challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis—including treatment, medical expenses, and significant time away from work.

Cancer doesn’t just affect the person receiving the diagnosis. It impacts the entire family, bringing emotional, physical, and financial challenges that can be overwhelming.

That’s why Cancer Strong is coming together once again for Taps for Ta Ta’s—to surround the Johnson Family with the support of their community and help ease some of the financial burden they are facing.

This event is more than just a fundraiser. It’s an opportunity for our community to come together, enjoy good food and drinks, share some laughs, and most importantly, show the Johnson Family that they are not facing this journey alone.

Every ticket, donation, sponsorship, and contribution makes a difference. Funds raised through Taps for Ta Ta’s will go directly toward helping the Johnson Family and others with expenses associated with their cancer journey, giving them a little more breathing room to focus on what matters most: treatment, healing, and time together as a family.
